I had no idea that there was an EO requiring action by the USPS for mail in ballots. Nor did I have any idea that a court in Boston was seeking to stop an EO. I also appreciate the manner in which our host eloquently explained how a National Security EO can affect elections in the individual states. And, it is for this reason, that I frequent JHK's blog. I almost always learn something that I have not heard anything about.
What is happening today is a clear indication that the federal government no longer functions. It has become too large to govern. Too many judges with way too much authority to gum up the works. If one angry female judge can over turn an EO intended govern a federal bureaucracy (exactly what an EO is supposed to do) then who can actually govern? How does anything get done? How does anything get fixed?
The judiciary needs to be reigned in. Period. Their authority has far exceeded the original intent of the US conny. The SCOTUS palace in DC should be converted to a museum and the SCOTUS returned back to the basement of the US Capitol, right where they belong. They are NOT equal to the Legislature or the Executive branch. All of the federal courts should be purged and the justices sent back to chasing ambulances.
The Congress makes laws and spends the money. The Executive executes the law and has supreme authority over the federal bureaucracy. All the SCOTUS is supposed to do is tell us whether the law meets constitution muster or not. These little federal courts have no authority to stop an EO that applies to a federal division.
Until Congress gets its head out of its ass and reclaims its authority and nails the federal judiciary to the wall, those that we choose to govern will be unable to do so.
Re: Congress reining in the federal judiciary, probably not too tough. Three strikes rule. On the third reversal or remand, the judge is automatically removed. No essentially impossible political process, though that is still an option. Just three poor performance reviews.
Good idea, Steve. No hope of such a reform, which I think would need a constitutional amendment, at present. But let's keep it on the shelf for an opportunity.
Also, there should be an end to automatic lifetime appointments for federal judges. They're usually middle-aged when confirmed, which means they are untouchable for 30 or 40 years barring a complete mental or physical meltdown. Even if the jurists convince themselves they're only applying or interpreting the law as written, it's too much temptation to rule according to their political and social views, knowing they are glued to their seats.
Federal Men-in-Black should have to be re-appointed every 10 years. It sounds like a lot of extra work for Congress, but like all legislation most of the action is in committee, so Congress as a whole wouldn't be especially bothered. Initial confirmations are mostly speculative, because it's hard to know in advance how a nominee will behave once in office; but re-appointments will have a 10-year record to evaluate.
It's another reform that's solidly impossible at the moment, or most moments. But we should keep it in mind in case the Republic should undergo a brief spasm of heightened responsibility sometime.
I am completely unconcerned if our employees are required to do additional work. Actually, I believe that the necessity of completing additional tasks is a small price to pay for the returns they all accumulate. They should get to work on the behalf of their constituents, before their constituents decide to get to "work" on them, if you catch my drift...

As is often the case, it's easier to predict what potential things will happen (ie, National Security declaration) than it is to predict when it happens. This fall certainly seems ripe for trouble at the moment, but who can determine when the crowds of fake rioters, real rioters, pissed off Americans, scared Americans and so on reaches critical mass and explodes? Who can predict when the violence grows in scale beyond anything we've seen in the last 80 years, since the Civil War, or the Revolutionary War? I can't.

My 90 year old mother, who was born in the USA and now lives in Canada, is convinced Trump hides under her bed at night to steal her democracy. Yet the last time I visited her there was an election day, and she saw nothing wrong with walking to the polling station, showing her voter ID, and casting her ballot in the one-day-only election, whose results were available the next day. I can't figure it out, but I believe many Americans feel exactly the same way.

Direct TV offers two news mix channels showing four simultaneous screens at once: on one of these mixes, it shows CNN, Fox News, Newsmax, and NewsNation. You can see the different news station chyrons in real time. When Trump is answering questions from reporters or making a speech, the chyrons and coverage of 3 of the 4 stations present Trump unfiltered. CNN, meanwhile, omits/suppresses such coverage altogether, or presents a stream of negative stories with obvious anti-Trump narrative and spin. The contrast is jarring, illustrating how people become programmed to accept a slanted and unbalanced reality.
The other news-mix includes two right of center news stations alongside BBC News and MS-Now. Same jarring contrast.

As a resident of Utah I can confidently state that the Republican Party dominates this state. The predominant religion in this state to which I believe 60% of the population subscribes is quite conservative. Utah recently re-districted its 4 congressional districts making Salt Lake County its own district. I predict in this next election that Utah will have 3 Republican seats and 1 Democrat seat.
I don't like Utah's mail in ballot system and for a time there I was under the impression that the State legislature was doing away with it. I have also personally observed my county's ballot counting operation and the measures they take to ensure the ballots are legit and appropriately counted. I have confidence that voter fraud in Utah isn't an issue, at least as big as an issue as it is in purple swing states where the voter fraud DOES make a difference.

We in WA state only have mail in voting, no in person voting allowed, we don’t like it & have complained much.
Problem is our state has been run by one party rule - democrats for over 30 years & it’s a mess. Check out the 2004 Dino Rossi vs. Gregoire governor race to get a clear picture of how long the cheating has kept the crazy democrats, now socialists in power. We’ve fought back working hard on gathering signatures to put initiatives like no boys in girls sports & parents rights on the ballot using the referendum process. And guess what? Because we’ve been successful the dems now want to take that process away.
America has worked because of the pendulum swings from Left to Right over decades. Both sides have faults, problems that eventually destroy societies if continued too long. One sided societies die. Right now, WA and many other blue societies are dying as the business communities leave and they become welfare states. ‘Mail in ballots’ used to be called ‘absentee ballots’, and they have been around for as long as Americans, or servicemen, would be out of the country. However, unless you were in the armed forces, getting an absentee ballot was not something that automatically came to you….you had to apply for one, show US citizenship ID, and continually keep your registration data up to date.
Elections must be fair, and they must be perceived to be fair, or people lose trust. If mail in ballots increase the likelihood of non-citizens voting, the system needs to be tightened up. Who loses when elections are made more secure?

The National Emergency Declaration would just speed the process up significantly.

Seven or eight more counties are voting on the referendum this Fall. It has passed overwhelmingly in all the 33 or 34 counties who have already voted on it.
Good teachers leave blue cities because they cannot afford them. As each generation rises to maturity, they are becoming stupider as proven by plummeting achievement scores and international standing. As the people become stupider, so do the teachers of the next generation. A rolling snowball.

Seems I heard something recently that one of the issues dogging Chicago is they are the only or one of the couple of only major cities lacking a city charter. Regardless, a definitely unique form of governance.
When Lincoln won in 1860, it was because southern states refused to participate in the election. That one led to the Civil War. If the Reds prevail this Fall, I would like DC to start withholding federal funds to blue states across the board when they refuse to do their diligent duty to the federal government. If the Blues win, it is over anyway and it makes no difference anyway as one by one the states will go bankrupt.

I've actually known quite a few people from Chicago, and none of them were good. Sociopathic assholes, every one. I realize that sounds rather extreme, but Chicago seems to have become an asshole magnet at this point. There's also the other side of Chicago politics. Years ago Bill Moyers did a great documentary on how it was that Democrats got such a lock on the city. I think it was called "Vote for Me" and was shown on PBS when that network was honest. It was shocking just how far the Dems were willing to go to stay in power. Republicans were demoralized in the face of it. And that was in the 1980s! So, I don't completely blame voters.

The USPS should not engage in mail fraud and states who refuse to conform to the EA would be committing mail fraud. Therefore, the USPS should be barred from delivering ballots to/from states committing mail fraud.
Ooh, I like that. Even if for some reason the USSC slaps down the Postmaster General's plan, the PG should put his inspectors on monitoring where every ballot is delivered. You start delivering 100 ballots to a mail drop, someone needs to go to prison for mail fraud. Starting with the Sec of State who runs the mail-in ballot procedure.
The DOJ is already sending “minders” to a bunch of states to monitor their election processes and procedures. Rather than the NatSec EO, which would truly create chaos and havoc, (much to the delight of the Left as they thrive on such), the DOJ could empower a veritable army of “minders” to ALL major election states, particularly swing and blue states. The intimidation factor alone, not to mention potentially catching nonsense in real time, could be a powerful tool, especially as time is short before the midterms.
That still won't get you into the counting centers or rooms where the truckloads of "mail-in" late ballots from China will be delivered after everyone goes home for the night or there's a "water leak."
John, that is what needs to happen, every lot of ballots needs sampled for legal voter status with 100% counting when false votes are noted. Every lot of ballots, all night long, all week long, all month long. Nothing is more important in our republic than accurate voting.
It also won’t stop the legal posting of unwatched ballot boxes, the collection of ballots from unknown locations, the failure to validate any of those ballots, or the counting of them in secret places. Nor the adjustment of counting machines to reflect a sufficient number of votes to tilt the election in the desired direction.
IMO, as a former reliability engineer, the election process needs a verification process built into itself. Let the statisticians develop sampling plans to audit every single election site’s ballots being counted with 100% ballot validation being required when bogus ballots are detected. If you have heard of six sigma quality control, it is required in elections that are separated by tenths of a percent.
Long term? Start educating the kids with real American philosophies and history and the vote will take care of itself.

I had no idea that there was an EO requiring action by the USPS for mail in ballots. Nor did I have any idea that a court in Boston was seeking to stop an EO. I also appreciate the manner in which our host eloquently explained how a National Security EO can affect elections in the individual states. And, it is for this reason, that I frequent JHK's blog. I almost always learn something that I have not heard anything about.
What is happening today is a clear indication that the federal government no longer functions. It has become too large to govern. Too many judges with way too much authority to gum up the works. If one angry female judge can over turn an EO intended govern a federal bureaucracy (exactly what an EO is supposed to do) then who can actually govern? How does anything get done? How does anything get fixed?
The judiciary needs to be reigned in. Period. Their authority has far exceeded the original intent of the US conny. The SCOTUS palace in DC should be converted to a museum and the SCOTUS returned back to the basement of the US Capitol, right where they belong. They are NOT equal to the Legislature or the Executive branch. All of the federal courts should be purged and the justices sent back to chasing ambulances.
The Congress makes laws and spends the money. The Executive executes the law and has supreme authority over the federal bureaucracy. All the SCOTUS is supposed to do is tell us whether the law meets constitution muster or not. These little federal courts have no authority to stop an EO that applies to a federal division.
Until Congress gets its head out of its ass and reclaims its authority and nails the federal judiciary to the wall, those that we choose to govern will be unable to do so.
Re: Congress reining in the federal judiciary, probably not too tough. Three strikes rule. On the third reversal or remand, the judge is automatically removed. No essentially impossible political process, though that is still an option. Just three poor performance reviews.

Good idea, Steve. No hope of such a reform, which I think would need a constitutional amendment, at present. But let's keep it on the shelf for an opportunity.
Also, there should be an end to automatic lifetime appointments for federal judges. They're usually middle-aged when confirmed, which means they are untouchable for 30 or 40 years barring a complete mental or physical meltdown. Even if the jurists convince themselves they're only applying or interpreting the law as written, it's too much temptation to rule according to their political and social views, knowing they are glued to their seats.
Federal Men-in-Black should have to be re-appointed every 10 years. It sounds like a lot of extra work for Congress, but like all legislation most of the action is in committee, so Congress as a whole wouldn't be especially bothered. Initial confirmations are mostly speculative, because it's hard to know in advance how a nominee will behave once in office; but re-appointments will have a 10-year record to evaluate.
It's another reform that's solidly impossible at the moment, or most moments. But we should keep it in mind in case the Republic should undergo a brief spasm of heightened responsibility sometime.

Scary times, indeed. If the Federal .gov can't even come to terms with something as simple as standardized voting, it seems pretty grim. However, with the propaganda machines in the media having been turned up to 11 several years ago, and running full blast ever since, it's hard to gauge how serious the crisis has become and what the fallout will be....since of course ground "truth" is so difficult to come by.
When the grocery stores get ransacked, the lights and water go off and gas stations have run out of fuel - well - then we'll know things are serious. Riots staged for political mischief well morph into riots for survival. And it probably won't be as friendly as the mad musical chairs dash around the deck of the Titanic after all the lifeboats had been launched.
As is often the case, it's easier to predict what potential things will happen (ie, National Security declaration) than it is to predict when it happens. This fall certainly seems ripe for trouble at the moment, but who can determine when the crowds of fake rioters, real rioters, pissed off Americans, scared Americans and so on reaches critical mass and explodes? Who can predict when the violence grows in scale beyond anything we've seen in the last 80 years, since the Civil War, or the Revolutionary War? I can't.

As a resident of Utah I can confidently state that the Republican Party dominates this state. The predominant religion in this state to which I believe 60% of the population subscribes is quite conservative. Utah recently re-districted its 4 congressional districts making Salt Lake County its own district. I predict in this next election that Utah will have 3 Republican seats and 1 Democrat seat.
I don't like Utah's mail in ballot system and for a time there I was under the impression that the State legislature was doing away with it. I have also personally observed my county's ballot counting operation and the measures they take to ensure the ballots are legit and appropriately counted. I have confidence that voter fraud in Utah isn't an issue, at least as big as an issue as it is in purple swing states where the voter fraud DOES make a difference.

‘Mail in ballots’ used to be called ‘absentee ballots’, and they have been around for as long as Americans, or servicemen, would be out of the country. However, unless you were in the armed forces, getting an absentee ballot was not something that automatically came to you….you had to apply for one, show US citizenship ID, and continually keep your registration data up to date.

BTW, I run an actual, real non-profit (a rare disease foundation, basically a children's charity), and we're not allowed to venture into any kind of political activity. These various NGOs, including everything connected to Soros or Singham, or any of these other Bond villains attempting to destroy the world, do not even remotely qualify for tax-exempt status and should be shut down immediately. This is not controversial, it's the law.
President Trump has accomplished more amazingly good things in the first two years of his second term than most Presidents ever achieved in their entire Presidencies. There are no boundaries on what they are willing to do.

Chicago is now run by the Chicago Teachers Union and by extension so is the state. They are a motley combo of DSA and WEF. This is why there is an active movement to split the state. People outside the Chicago Metro will not much longer tolerate a cabal of 85 IQ "school teachers" who can't teach running the whole state. Seven or eight more counties are voting on the referendum this Fall. It has passed overwhelmingly in all the 33 or 34 counties who have already voted on it.
Good teachers leave blue cities because they cannot afford them. As each generation rises to maturity, they are becoming stupider as proven by plummeting achievement scores and international standing. As the people become stupider, so do the teachers of the next generation. A rolling snowball.

If I remember correctly, isn't Chicago divided into wards and each ward can only vote for filling its own position on city council rather than everyone being able to vote for the entire council as we do here in our town? Seems I heard something recently that one of the issues dogging Chicago is they are the only or one of the couple of only major cities lacking a city charter. Regardless, a definitely unique form of governance.
When Lincoln won in 1860, it was because southern states refused to participate in the election. That one led to the Civil War. If the Reds prevail this Fall, I would like DC to start withholding federal funds to blue states across the board when they refuse to do their diligent duty to the federal government. There's also the other side of Chicago politics. Years ago Bill Moyers did a great documentary on how it was that Democrats got such a lock on the city. The USPS should not engage in mail fraud and states who refuse to conform to the EA would be committing mail fraud. Therefore, the USPS should be barred from delivering ballots to/from states committing mail fraud.

The DOJ is already sending “minders” to a bunch of states to monitor their election processes and procedures. Rather than the NatSec EO, which would truly create chaos and havoc, (much to the delight of the Left as they thrive on such), the DOJ could empower a veritable army of “minders” to ALL major election states, particularly swing and blue states. The intimidation factor alone, not to mention potentially catching nonsense in real time, could be a powerful tool, especially as time is short before the midterms.
That still won't get you into the counting centers or rooms where the truckloads of "mail-in" late ballots from China will be delivered after everyone goes home for the night or there's a "water leak."
John, that is what needs to happen, every lot of ballots needs sampled for legal voter status with 100% counting when false votes are noted. Every lot of ballots, all night long, all week long, all month long. Nothing is more important in our republic than accurate voting.
It also won’t stop the legal posting of unwatched ballot boxes, the collection of ballots from unknown locations, the failure to validate any of those ballots, or the counting of them in secret places. Nor the adjustment of counting machines to reflect a sufficient number of votes to tilt the election in the desired direction.
IMO, as a former reliability engineer, the election process needs a verification process built into itself. Let the statisticians develop sampling plans to audit every single election site’s ballots being counted with 100% ballot validation being required when bogus ballots are detected. If you have heard of six sigma quality control, it is required in elections that are separated by tenths of a percent.
Long term? Start educating the kids with real American philosophies and history and the vote will take care of itself.
