I don't think any of the 100 million plus casualties of Communism in the 20th Century ever "went along with it". It's a paper pencil only classroom except for the scourge of testing.

Besides the utterly undeniable fact that communism/socialism has never actually worked, people still don't get its utterly false promise of universal altruism. Communism is not one big happy commune where everybody loves everybody, but humanity is famous for shoving its head up its own ass in defiance of self-preservation. Europe is finding out what giving up guns means. Is there some way we can transport our treasures to, say, the moon, until it's safe? As a person fascinated with archaeology and the eons of humanity's imagination and genius, I will weep for the loss of "decadent" art and libraries are burned for the sake of Sharia law and "social purification," the works of sculptors, who could carve transparent veils out of marble, are broken up with sledgehammers . . . need I go on? Hell, I mourn the loss of the Alexandria Library and blowing up Buddhist statutes, and I wasn't even there! While every cathedral, truly remarkable when you realized it was done with hand tools, is turned into a mosque! Humanity is on the cusp of fanatical stupidity and impotence unless . . . . I often recall a line from "Scent of a Woman:" "I'd take a flamethrower to this place." It's racist to say what/who I'd burn. We all have a list.
I would like to think that justice is coming for all of them, but it never does.
They put on a show so we think they care, but no one is indicted unless they betray the deep state and then they go out in a sex scandal.
