“A sane society cannot debate its way out of psychosis. It must diagnose the patient with lethal precision and restore the ancient boundary between the mad and the free.” —LHGrey on X
Yet Becerra and Steyer lead in the polls with the sane Steve Hilton a close third, but third isn't good enough. California is physically a beautiful state, blessed with fertile land, mountains, ocean, lakes, rivers, immense forests, but inhabited largely by folk who need help tying their shoes.
Let’s get one thing straight. California is no more beautiful than any other state in the union (I know. I lived there and was massively unimpressed by the naked rock and dirt that covers much of it). The cities are concrete traffic grid lock hell holes and the inhabitants could use a good hard winter to reorder their brains. California dreaming is what they are doing … probably on LSD.
The comment was never about the cities but about the land and the weather.
While much of the country is freezing their asses off it is often 70 degrees.
I can be at the beach in the morning, drive up into the mountains in the afternoon, and be in the desert in the evening.
No other state is like it.
None.
The cities, at least San Diego, up until the Democrats took control and destroyed everything, was one of the cleanest big cities in America.
Now, the homeless people squatting and shitting on the streets and the mounds of trash they live in are cascading down the sides of the freeways these same homeless have all but destroyed any standard of living.
There are homeless camps with hundreds of stolen bikes stripped down to frames scattered all over the city.
That and the zombie-like hordes of fentanyl freaks passed out standing up, contorted into bizarre statues, is off-putting.
Parts of LA and other big cities look like Blade Runner stages set for the end of the world.
I hated June gloom, and I don’t love weather that never changes. The ocean was cold and ugly compared to the waters around Florida that are often crystal clear and warm. Love the desert dryness all you want but I think the eastern half of the USA is much better and I don’t have to pay for my water which falls abundantly from the sky.
The eternally cold surf temp was the brick thru my plate glass window after I got out there, & it’s freezing year round! Reason being the current comes out of the Bering Sea (where the “Deadliest Catch” guys are fishing) & runs south along the coast. Realized all those Beach Blanket Bingo movies I watched as a kid were nothing but bunk! You can’t stay in that water any length of time without a wetsuit.
Gidget (sp?), How to Stuff a Wild Bikini. Propaganda is a wonderful thing. If you can make people believe and buy, what could be more real than that? If you think you can fly, you can fly!
I live in Tennessee. We have mountains here and they are beautiful and green. But we don't have the dramatic scenery of the Sierras, nor the huge elevation changes with snow that lingers well into the summer. I agree that the eastern half is much greener and much more supportive of life. But those rocks, and rugged mountains of the West are pretty cool to look at.
Compare the Appalachian Trail (which I've completed) with the Pacific Crest Trail (which I only hiked for a few days). The AT is called the "green tunnel" because there are so few views, just an endless trail through the woods. The PCT goes from the Mexican border through CA, OR, and WA to the Canadian border. It has much more varied terrain and outstanding views at almost every step.
I agree with you Barbara. The east is superior to the west in most ways. I happen to think that the most beautiful part of the country (at least until the half-backers moved there) is western NC / eastern TN.
I'm a Massachusetts transplant living in the Bay Area and I much prefer the climate here. I had enough of winter and if I want winter I drive 3-4 hours to Tahoe; our "winter" is at most a lot of rain. And I could never live in the South with its long hot and humid summers, the bugs, and the fact that while it's not consistent, there are spells of severe winter weather that can occur surprisingly far south.
You know, Ben, you can do the very same thing in Israel. I know; I've done it. Take a morning swim in the Med in Haifa, then drive a couple hours up to Mount Hermon for a little skiing, Then a four hour drive down to watch the sun set on the Dead Sea. And you won't see a single addict or homeless guy all day long.
"Sackler family is selective in whom they target."
Yes, and when your culture, religion, cities, towns, schools, history, heritage, ancestors, folkways, etc. are attacked and intentionally destroyed, there tends to be increased levels of despair.
Last time I was in LA it was 1984. Outside my hotel was a huge dumpster and one day I was looking out the window and the dumpster opened from the inside and two homeless bums came out. Well let’s face it folks. The people that lived there in dumpsters were ahead of their time.
As long as the generations do not grow the fuck up the BUMS who live off the drugs and alcohol will actually be in office and telling us how to live.
Gee they are in office and are telling us how to think. 🤔
Getting tough and getting in their face must happen to them. The only person doing this is Trump. And guess what? The drug addicted people who are everywhere, not just in dumpsters, hate him. Why? Because he is the only person ready and willing to get rid of them. He needs to get a little more medieval…..🪓⛓️🔪🏹⚔️🗡️💣🧨🛡️. Just my opinion.
Unfortunately, Catherine, Donald Trump has morphed back to his 90’s self, it seems… it’s The Deal or it’s The Deal. I believed his campaign rhetoric and voted for him and yet he actually pretends 1. There are not 380 mosques now in Texas plus a corrupt governor who is helping Texas go blue, no deportations anywhere, just Muslims everywhere. 2: he’s also pretending 80 percent of Americans despise their Constitutional rights being crapped on: no transparency as these monsters pop up all over drought states.. all for the sake of President Trump’s friends- Peter Theil (Palantier) Sam Altman Larry Ellison, Jeffry Zuckerberg, Gates, Bezos- the psychotic billionaires behind AI who I fear, are really in charge. Do we hear or see mention of this outrage on media or in print? No. Social media is the only outlet. Why? The government is closer to Britains style more than we know.
What is good about never having a spring or fall?? What is wonderful about EVERY day for the whole year being dry and hot. I love the snow. It’s beautiful. I love spring it’s so green. I love the fall it’s so colorful. I love rain and stormy weather. I hated California weather. But I’m glad you love it because everyone should live where they are happy.
As you say, "to each, his (or her) own." You can keep your snow, leaf color changes and hot humid summers. IMO, California weather is second to none. I can assure you, for many people here, it's the only thing left that keeps them here.
I remember back in 1981 going on leave out of Coronado Island San Diego ,flying up to Monterey , renting out a car , taking my buddies up to Tioga Pass( elevation 9,945 ft) so we could hike from there back down into the Valley ( Yosemite Valley ) it was June and there was still 6 feet of snow on the ground . California has seasons I can assure you , it just depends on where in California you're talking about .
Agree that other states also have natural beauty, but I don't think any other state has the variety of landscapes and terrain found in California, probably because of the long coast line and large land mass, especially north to south. What makes the cities suck is the terrible leadership and morons running the cities, elected by folk who need help tying their shoes.
Oregon rivals at neck to neck on a much smaller scale, which makes the gorgeous geography landscape here the more amazing unfortunately we have the Donner headed dances that the majority voters north of southern Oregon keep putting in just like that morons in California love the vacuous oil spill head, Mr. nuisance . Californians are so easily distracted by their leftist Marxist dirtbag influencers. They still think Mr. nuisance is a wonderful man, high morals, and really cares about all of them individually and personally, so they keep voting for the same idiocy and wondering why their state and their money is going nowhere so glad I left that shit hole over 40 years ago unfortunately I’m in a small shit hole but it’s much smaller in Oregon and most of us in southern and eastern Oregon and some of the coastal people still believe in conservatism and constitutional rule of law, but we’re still fighting losing battle and I sure hope that me bragging about our amazing landscape in geography doesn’t attract anymore parasites from down south up north or from the east to come here cause we’ve had more than enough of those shambles but they will never learn vacuous
Hmmm, I have wondered how California has ended up being the liberal quagmire that it is. IMO, an effect of ethnocentrism is the tendency of people wanting to be with people of like ethnicity or lifestyle. San Francisco, LA, and Palm Springs are collection areas for the LBGTQ movement. Hollywood is very notorious. The Black community in LA has had problems for generations. The entire coast is a hot bed of homelessness and a goal for the illegal immigrant influx. The wonderful climate and fairly good job market has made the coast a target for Lefty-Lefts since the 1800s. The political scene has always been the rural “desert” areas, and the San Joaquin valleys against the liberal collection points in the cities. For years, the coasts have been dominant which has grown the nutty candidates we have seen. Does the moderate swing back indicated by these primaries show that increased surveillance of the voting booth might be showing some past corruption of the elections at the coast?
I tell you one thing it’s got up North. Lots and lots of irrigated farmland to drive through on your way to the scenery on the coast or in the mountains. But I love all America, once you get out of the cities.
You obviously lived in a different California. It's beautiful, and the weather is the best in the whole country. It's government and leadership needs to be erased from the planet.
Los Angeles Glendale area. When I left I NEVER looked back. The weather in Kentucky is absolutely the best in my book, my rural community a holy bubble of good people and beautiful surroundings. But as I said, to each their own.
I've been in Kentucky. My brother-in-law lives there too. The humidity in the summer is horrible. As you say, "to each their own", yet, it's hard for me to see how someone prefers being hot, sticky and uncomfortable to being cool and dry. SoCal, dry desert heat in an arid zone is much more preferable to me. I lived in CA for 48 years. I've lived in NJ, NH, MA, FL... no thanks!
A year in Orlando mid summer sweltering heat, and around 3:00 the heavens open up, and it pours raindrops the size of Cadillacs. It cools off for an hour, and then the heat and humidity kick back in.
We had 300-dollar electric bills in 1993 from running the AC 24-7.
How about the enormous, winged roaches, brown widows, Snakes, sharks, and alligators?
I was born & raised in CA, lived there most but not all of my life. When I was young, it was a great place to live, we led the way in every single category and it was a solid Republican state. That changed about 15 yrs ago when Dems found a way to massively cheat and they have been doing it ever since. I left CA 5 yrs ago because I knew Newsom was a communist and bent on destroying Calif. I'm sad to say that I was proved to be right.
So very true Steve me too raised in North San Diego County very rural still to this day unincorporated town even Orange County, which we really despise was very red very conservative. Even the Democrats were more moderate and everybody could have a discussion in a debate versus today. Those days are so far gone and I am so glad I am so far far away from that dump.
First they have to figure out how to get into whatever pants they’re wearing that morning. Without those the shoes are immaterial. Clown shoes are hard to pull pants over when wearing.
The NYPost reported that practically all of the protestors that were arrested were from out-of-state ie paid political actors - the dirty work of Soros, Singham, Reid Hoffman etc.
"practically all of the protestors that were arrested were from out-of-state"
Same as it ever was. The entire "civil rights" movement was a Marxist sham full of paid protestors and rehearsed stunts. The media and the hippies nee Boomers lapped it up, rejoiced and exalted in it. They still pat themselves on the back over it and think they accomplished great things.
As a boomer I can say nobody I associated with participated in the civil rights movement or gave it more than a passing thought. Many protested the Vietnam War, which was a life or death issue for draft-eligible young men. Civil rights protesters generally didn't care that we were subject to involuntary servitude.
The Deep State of the 60s could not sell the need for Viet Nam. Just like every war since. Until goals are stated and met, wars are a waste of lives and resources. If legitimate goals are set, wars are to be won.
Would you rather fight despots here or over there? China’s invasion into this country is only matched by Islam’s. How many 9/11’s could you tolerate to keep wars domestic?
Same here. I was in university 1968-1972. A lot of “artsy fartsy” types did the protest dance but many others especially engineering students like me did and would not. Some boomers are left wing nutters not all.
Boomer here, I remember those days and all the civil rights protests and Vietnam protests, too. We never should have been involved in Vietnam war IMHO.
I was in OSU from the fall of 69 until winter quarter 74. Business Degree----Marketing. Had a job or jobs while I went to school for about 20 hours per week during school and 60 hours per week during the summer and over breaks. Got married during spring break in 72 so...... not much time for protesting. I used to get calls from frat brats all the time wanting me to join their frat because my grades were 3.5 or above but.......I always told them, when they invited me to a beer bash on a Friday night or Saturday night that I was either working or studying or going to class. Not much time to do anything I really wanted to do besides study -------which is kind of the way college is supposed to be for a poor white boy (who does not want to be poor his whole life). Tuition was $480 per year------ $160 per quarter when I started. Was $300 by the time I graduated. The radicals on our campus were SDS and they arranged all or most of the protests and marches and all the "anti-establishment" BS that was going on. I always wondered why nobody was very interested in who was funding SDS because the students I saw join them did not even have enough money to buy the beer or Qualudes they wanted. Since the Dems controlled the House all during this time, I would guess it was the Dem party somehow/someway------just like we taxpayers paid for all of the invaders to come here during Biden's handlers reign. Taxpayers are screwed every which way while the F....ing Rinos are concerned with making sure Trump does not get credit for anything like election integrity and the Marxists are only interested in anything that will help cause the destruction of our country.
Still married to my first wife but....... when I showed pics of our children to anyone and my wife was not around, I always told the person looking at pics of the smartest and most attractive and talented kids in the world I would always tell them that these are my kids from my first wife. Which was true because she was my only wife. Had a pretty good life, in spite of our worthless pols.
The Far Left Marxists self-fund. They use their own money. They all have jobs. They are decentralized. One example: DSA (at 100,000 members) has dues @ $15/month for each member. I think it is RCA which wants a day's pay per month as dues. These people are zealots who want to overthrow the Constitution.
Mayor Mamdani of NY and Mayor of Seattle have both said they never had jobs. They came from wealthy families who give them money - which is why they have no concept of a budget or anything else regarding money/wealth.
Trust funders are a large part of the leftist cancer. They are the scum who as the saying goes, "were born on third base and think that they hit a triple." A few of the children of very wealthy become large successes in their own right--President Trump (and it would appear his children, too), but they are the exception. Most trust funders, in reality, are failures who have horrible self-images. A lot of them enter politics (almost always as leftists) in order to "be somebody." But they are still failures and they manage to destroy whatever that they might be elected to lead or manage.
Primary source info, includes an intro course and a four-hour presentation, among other offerings. It takes a little time to digest. There is a new language (the language of the Far Left) to learn. It's a rabbit hole worth going down.
She doesn't pull any punches on her channels, and one might experience a significant reshuffling of synaptic connections. If you do go on her channels (YT, Rumble) my best advice is be quiet for the first few months. Say nothing, do not offer opinions, and do not engage! It is a learning experience which takes time. Be an observer. It has taken me about half a year+ to feel comfortable enough to venture out into what amounts to a different world.
There's also a learning curve based on generational approach. There are mostly (but by far not exclusively) younger portion of GenX, Millenials, and Zoomers along with some Boomers.
If you stay the course you'll never view what is happening in the country the same as you do today.
I owe you a link from a week or more ago regarding gas prices:
After the public assassination of Charlie Kirk (may he rest in peace), I found a few people on x her age who explained a lot using that kind of lingo.
It is not as simple as the word for Groovy (which we used to us, not me though i was too cool) morphing into different words every 10 years.
It is far more complicated and indeed "one might experience a significant reshuffling of synaptic connections".
It is like adding another part-time job.
We read substack and other places/people who have proven not to
have sold out
We follow some podcasters for news and current events
we spend a hour or so daily on X
Now we need to re-shuffle or synaptic connections.
I'll tell you, I am 71 and my mind is going to outlive my body for sure.
It gets quite a workout daily. I do physically work out as well, and am in
good shape, so that's another part-time job.
Plus I'm an involved Grandma hoping to one day pass my wisdom on to the grands when they are a bit older. But learning this stuff will help me know how to talk to them and where they may be coming from. They are subjected to leftism in every way shape or form. School, movies, TV, books, the absolute sucky popular hip-hop rap shit.
I began down this path last year. I also needed to better understand what was being said and how these generations speak and approach issues. Best advice remains: be a learner, observer, and don't engage for the first few months. I went out on May Day this year to gather and contribute gathered information to her non-profit: https://karlyn.substack.com/p/introducing-the-center-for-left-wing .
The result was being much better prepared to understand what the Far Left marxists are doing. Also, each generation has its own terms, which you note. Learning their terms is very helpful.
Think what is going to happen to gas prices when the Straits are re-opened. The USA is supplying Europe right now and probably China too with help from Russia. When that constriction of 20% is lifted the price is going back to the 2’s. Just in time for the mid-terms.
Another thing to think about regarding the protestors. Joblessness and the shock younger folks are having with the job market out of college. Soros et al are paying and taking care of these spoiled brats. I would love to see a correlation chart of homelessness, joblessness and Blueness. Another good one might be the percentage of college level jobs available to grads.
I believe that industry is going to go hog wild over AI because of the government sponsored stupidification of the country.
Well, I live in a successful red state. Unemployment is functionally near zero. Help wanted signs everywhere. It's not a stretch to say that the large majority of the relatively small population not working are not working by choice, not because there are no jobs. Republicans and conservative-leaning independents are a large majority of the state population and, unless they are retired, stay-at-home (married) moms, or absolutely disabled, they all have jobs. The people who aren't working can pretty much be put into these often-overlapping groups: leftists, many teenagers ("frozen" out of the work force because they do not have the experience or work ethic to effectively earn the minimum wage) druggies, welfare bums (including the vast majority of today's illegal aliens), criminals, and the just plain lazy--nearly all of that population enabled by Democrat-designed welfare systems, giveaway programs, and leniency toward criminality.
Not surprisingly, there are not many "protests" in my state, no riots, and--outside of a couple of leftist-run cities, not a lot of crime.
"Not surprisingly, there are not many "protests" in my state, no riots, and--outside of a couple of leftist-run cities, not a lot of crime." Not a huge surprise.
There are reasons for the population shift in the country, which ties in to what you are saying.
AI is energy-intense. Put another way, to build out these data centers requires massive amounts of energy. This gets into EROI (Energy Return On Investment). It also requires a highly skilled workforce to install the infrastructure. GPUs, as one necessary item, require a lot of connections, yet silver supply is in a deficit (this is physical, not paper).
I read stories of whole neighborhoods being uprooted to make way for data centers. Expect lawsuits, don't know how it will play out.
Yet I read other stories where AI is not living up to expectations and is more expensive than the workforce it is supposed to replace.
I have to deal with AI at work and at home. My employment agency and my apartment complex management company use AI. The first thing I learned is that AI lies more prolifically than humans. It is also dumber than humans, which is saying a lot. Apparently it learns, though. There are forms of AI that are highly intelligent, like the Golden Dome (aka The Administrator). I have no interest in deep diving AI but it is a more complex subject than I initially thought.
I can't stand that woman. She has crazy eyes and is all over the map besides being as rude as a person could possibly be. IMO, she's insane and that's my professional opinion, as I was a therapist for many years and had to diagnose all of my clients.
She comes off as opinionated, which she admits. Results? I've learned a lot which has played out as presented. Having a high tolerance for ambiguity helps. I can suspend judgement long enough to examine the content beyond the person. It took many months.
"She has crazy eyes and is all over the map besides being as rude as a person could possibly be" can't offer much disagreement. The content she has amassed with what I'll figure are a few other individuals rings true.
The 'Robber Barons' living in their mansions along the Hudson bought their politicians and sent them to Albany. Not much changes, I think the magnitude is many times greater. However we can really only reference our present experiences and have opinions about what occurred over 100 years and more ago.
Sigh. Communism is a project of Capitalism and is funded by them. The pallets of bricks don't appear by themselves. Kuhn, Loeb and Co (now Chase Manhattan) lent the Russian Communists twenty million in gold sterling. How much would that be now? After the Revolution, it was paid back with thank.
Look for the photo of Rockefeller and Kushchev embracing like lovers....
And the Democratic soldiers are soldiers of the global Mob, and all the crime that goes with it. I do not understand why the people cannot comprehend what the Lefty-Lefts are all about.
It’s true that the Antifa functions as Brown Shirts for the Democrats, but to be fair it depends on who owns that particular domain name. It might be someone anti-Antifa wanting to make a point.
Conservatives need to stop saying that Democrats like Bacerra are “world-class incompetent.”
Bacerra did exactly what he (and his handlers) intended to do. I would say that he and others in the Biden regime (like Mayorkas) were very successful in purposely damaging their country.
Karen Bass was not at all concerned with putting out the LA fires. The Dems want to seize the land and build low-income housing.
Democrats in power are diabolical but they often manage to accomplish their goals.
THANK YOU. I am sick to death of obstinately naive people calling Becerra, Biden, Fauci, et al., "failures" or "incompetent." They are malicious and carrying out evil agendas.
Lincoln wanted to send freemen to Africa, to Liberia. We should send the Lefty-Lefts to China. Except China would want no part of their worthless hides.
How true. In the U.S., lazy leftists who don't want to work get on welfare and then complain how bad they have it while they live out their lives leeching off of productive Americans. In Communist China, lazy people who don't want to work or even complain about how bad they have it are either sent to work camps or are exterminated. The only use that the lefty-lefts have for the Communist Chinese is to make sure that they stay in the U.S. and that the Chi-Comms can bankroll them to destroy the American Republic.
Politicians ARE failures in life. When a California representative thought that putting too many people in Guam would tip the island over, he was not the sharpest pencil in the box. When a California state representative thought that pushing the middle class out of California to make room for more illegals was a great idea, that gets very close to insanity.
Especially when they are still free and roaming to do whatever they want at will. That the gross malfeasance is allowed to continue unabated is incomprehensible.
Oh Ben, much more than that. He is putting in a law making it a crime to investigate fraud in California. He knows what is coming and is trying every Avenue available to block it.
Like gravity-denying fools flinging themselves from airplanes without parachutes, and riffling and roaring on the way down, the people you are critiquing are in for a hard collision with reality.
You're right, yet even if they continue to deny gravity to the moment of their extinction, it must ultimately manifest. Maybe not this week or this year, but soon enough geologically. That's just flat-out true--the physics of foolishness.
As Heraclitus might have said, "Stupid shit cannot last."
California will re-elect Bass, and either Bacteria (sic) or Porter for Gov. No hope exists for those still stupid enough to support democrats. I was born & raised in Pasadena, spent a career in IT (IBM, Disney, Sony…) and left for a free state as soon as our youngest graduated HS. It was a beautiful place to grow up - camping, backpacking, skiing, scuba, theater, dining, surfing. But you have to be an idiot to be there now.
Actually, Spencer Pratt is starting to wipe the floor with Bass. His poll numbers are better than Bass, who is now running last. He's suing her for her illegal actions and he just went in to South Central L.A., which is by far almost all blacks who are very poor, it's a highly dangerous area, truly the slums. It's been that way all my life and I'm in my 70s. He held a block party there and now lots of blacks are voting for him, they like what he had to say and that he came to visit them - something which no other politician every did in my lifetime.
Hmmmm, Ben. Is the vote showing the real problem in California, State wide, Hilton is still in there swinging. Total incompetence by the Bass group and she still is number one. Kinda says where the gimme crowd is located. How did San Diego county do?
Or the insane populace of gimmes. California is warm and full of welfare, it attracts gimmes by the bus load. Did you know that many of the illegals shipped to NYC ended up in California?
A relative of mine was a native of North Dakota and lived there his whole life. I still remember his prescient comment when someone would complain about the harsh climate and the long bitter cold winters, "Don't complain about the North Dakota weather, it keeps all of the riff-raff out of here." Imagine this--he lived in the same house for over 50 years and never had a key for the doors, they were never locked, even if he and his family went on vacation for 2 weeks. Nothing was ever stolen. No one in town ever took the keys out of their cars--and none was ever stolen. He passed away a few years ago. The town is still pretty much the same--quiet, safe, and secure.
American expat billionaire communist Neville Roy Singham funded the protests in MN. Plus many other protests. He has blood on his hands & is a traitor.
I think the way for us to hain our nstion back is to ignore the "elite pedo 'class'",ignore MSM subtle threats, ignore unconstitutional laws enacted. Give the aligned, maligned forces no headspace,no attention, backside to their intimidations and cultural predations. Let them and their plans fall. Theirvwalls are heavy. They fall on me.
Most ppl are ignoring them out of either apathy or ignorance and that's clearly not working. You cannot ignore millions of uncivilized immigrant invaders into a civilized society.
If we can read Substack and figure out Antifa’s MO, don’t you think the FBI knows who’s running the show? It would be pretty easy to arrest the leadership and RICO the funding sources. This means the FBI doesn’t want to shut Antifa down? Why?
Biden didn’t because Antifa are Democratic Party allies. Trump and his people, though, know everything we know about them and more. I’ll bet that the DOJ is gathering evidence and the hammer will come down before the midterms.
L.A. Mayor candidate Spencer Pratt's election advertising has been interesting. He's creating awareness of the ginormous corruption by spray-painting orange circles around potholes, burned out buildings and broken street lights. Way to go Spencer! Best of luck on Tuesday.
There is drama, and then there's Psychodrama. With drama, emotions run high, but reality can still be defined. With psychodrama, the line between reality and non-reality is blurred, both by participant insanity and 5th generation psychological warfare techniques.
Hopefully we're nearing the end of the Psychodrama stage, as the American Empire continues to struggle with the effects of the Long Emergency, and soon we'll have more important things to worry about than how badly the "migrants" are being treated. Like, where is my next meal coming from?
It was easy to follow the logic of the Long Emergency as resource depletion, failing economics and a grid-locked government policies indicated and delivered an extended downturn in how we live our lives. The psycho part and human gullibility are a couple of aspects I woefully underestimated. I was expecting adults to eventually take the reins, and mitigation to begin in earnest. Instead I see Clown World, 24x7x365.25. Ugh.
The Long Emergency provided two plus decades of lead time to where we are today, and reading through it was a heavy dose of reality which ran counter to the "Too Much Magic" mindset. Thank you very much for writing it. It helped me immensely when it comes to the mental fortitude necessary to understand what's happening, and the (some unpleasant) challenges ahead.
As for the psycho/disordered minds part, I don't know if that's a result of 60+ years of modern media propaganda, people unconsciously grasping that Progress has its limits, the "Me Generation" raising kids without a proper grasp on reality, a warped education system, humans being humans, or some other factor(s). It's a mystery that may never be solved, though processes have begun to clear the murk. It appears the next few decades or more will be a wee bit bumpy.
Hmmm, you scared the shit out of me. There we were just floating along, singing in the rain, and some guy in NY is saying that it is all coming to an end by the end of the 21st century and here is why. I started to pay attention and when Magic came out, the accuracy was self apparent. You are criticized because it is not coming as fast as they want, but your forecasts were TLE would hit hard by 2100, and I do believe that.
You have stirred the pot, keep it up. I always remember that for every opinion or belief there is an equal and opposite one.
Evidently, the "hunger strikers" at the Delany facility were unhappy with the choices of jambalaya, chicken burgers, or bean burritos plus salads, breads, and desserts for their dinner.
Arrest every single protestor. Deterrence only works when it is certain. No carve-outs exist in law, it is binary: THIS is illegal, no excuses.
Once they’re arrested, terminate their citizenship, confiscate their passport and drop them off in some other country. If they behave for five years and ask to come back, let them apply.
The past weekend I read a book for the 20-30ish demographic and it was utterly pathetic. No moral center anywhere, no historic downtown, no rugged wilderness. Just AI-style slop writing. Not even decent escapism, which is what I was seeking. I got what I deserved, as the book was from my 30-something hairdresser's lending library. Only myself to blame!
When we were a religious people, we had at least a common prayer book. We mostly agreed on what was moral and what was immoral. Now we've been untethered from all that, and much worse for the loss, in my view. Because who shows up after God is banished is a herd of blue-haired, pierced, elderly children obsessed with their own virtue and genitalia. You would think that since sex is involved it would at least be interesting, but it's not.
The media - both news and entertainment - have now politicized nearly everything in our society as an extremely powerful mechanism of control.
Politicization is so effective at manipulating the populace because most people emotionally connect their personal belief system to the belief system of their political party, and so then any attack on their party - legitimate or otherwise - is interpreted by their brain as an attack on themselves. Reason and logic then jump out the nearest window as raw emotion takes the helm, thus making them even more susceptible to the predatory controlling influences.
The thing that amazes me is that 100% of the Democrats sign up to 100% of the check boxes of the Democrat platform. Absolutely no deviation. We might as well have robots on the Left side of the House and Senate. The first thing that the Left-Lefties do in the morning is look up what the daily dose of bullshit they are going to spout. What a perfect spot for an AI center.
Sydney Sweeney is much better looking than these numbskulls. They are a good demonstration of the deviancy of the Left side of our society right now. Didn’t carnivals used to use folks like these in their side shows?
Yes, with good football player cops stomping them into the ground. The greeks don't want no freaks. The good guys then go home and listen to twisted freaks like Mark Levin. Or worship long haired musicians and pay big money to listen to them.
My understanding of the Founders' intentions did not include a 2-party system. Neither did they outright preclude it. It is a 'creature' which 'came about' in the early decades of the Republic. There are more than two parties in the USA. The so-called 'uniparty' (the faux 2-party system) colludes to keep the other parties off the stage in order to continue their grift.
Washington warned against party formation. I think he wanted an intelligentsia Congress, making “smart” laws based on merit. Instead, we get what we have.
There was a division from the beginning. The Federalists, led by Hamilton and Adams, believed in federal control and an urban domination, that the people were incompetent The Democrat-Republicans, led by Jefferson, believed in people control and a rural domination with the people in control.
"making “smart” laws based on merit. Instead, we get what we have."
It has drifted far from the Original intent. Washington warned against quite a few behaviors for the new Republic. The warnings needed more attention than they received.
The urban (nascent industrialization at the time) v agrarian (as in the Southern states) became (literally) a hot issue by the 1860's. A Constitutional Crisis which should have been settled in the courts was instead met with force of arms and settled by armed conflict (paraphrasing Jefferson Davis).
Political partys formed up pretty quick tho. As soon as Washington passed away in 1799. A few years later emotions were running so hot two founding fathers -- Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton -- were shooting at each other in Weehauken, NJ.
2 points. 1) I’ve been suggesting investigating who/what is funding these insurrectionists since the BLM farce. Paying people to create violence and delivering equipment, food, travel and per diem, as well as pallets of bricks in the streets is a conspiracy that should be easily prosecuted under the RICO Act.
2. Nothing will change in any Blue state until we have ordered elections again. Every electoral system under Democrat control is rigged. One citizen, one vote. ID required for in person voting only. One day counting. Severe criminal and civil penalties for election shenanigans. Nothing can change until the elections are honest.
"Realized all those Beach Blanket Bingo movies I watched as a kid were nothing but bunk!"
Except for Annette Funicello!
For a while but then goes out to sea around Santa Cruz. The Southern half of the state has much warmer water
Malibu beach blanket bingo.
Go hang out at Malibu Point mid-September on a booming New Zealand swell.
150-yard rides with 300 people crawling all over it.
Funny you should mention the lack of addicts in Israel.
Sackler family is selective in whom they target.
"Sackler family is selective in whom they target."
Yes, and when your culture, religion, cities, towns, schools, history, heritage, ancestors, folkways, etc. are attacked and intentionally destroyed, there tends to be increased levels of despair.
All that was going on long before the Sackler family monetized opioids for fun and profit.
The fact that people have largely chosen to ignore drug addicted, crazy people living on the streets is the real problem.
Yes, thank the American taxpayer for their involuntary donations to Israel.
"The cities, at least San Diego, up until the Democrats took control and destroyed everything, was one of the cleanest big cities in America."
San Diego has been a dump since Roger Hedgecock got railroaded almost 40 years ago.
I left back then and wouldn't go back on a bet.*
The dem politicians are elected by fraud and owe their jobs to criminal aliens.
San Diego was the last of the big cities to fail, but the whole state from top to bottom is an abject failure - and well beyond redemption.
*The one thing that would get me back there would be a midnight visit to Hanoi Jane's grave.
Correct. No other state is like it. I’ve been to all but Alaska, have lived in CA, CO, AZ.
California has the best weather by far IMHO, but many states are equally as beautiful if not more so.
Yep!
The part she leaves out, we have all that as well, once out of the coastal areas, the weather does, in fact, change like everywhere else.
One hour drive up to Laguna Mountain, we get spring, summer, fall and gasp snow every winter.
Take a look at the San Gabriel Mountains, an hour away from LA, trees, snow, skiing and what a beautiful backdrop.
When you can see it through the smog.
Very true!
ditto for a winter drive from the bay area up to & thru Donner pass. chains required.
I survived two miserable years in Fremont, CA. It snowed, and all the waterlines on the top of buildings froze.
‘IMHO’
I get tired of Wisconsin winters after 60 years of it, but am grateful that it keeps Skid Row at bay.
One year in Chicago was enough for me.
Yes. Tell them about Wel, the Theory of the Eternal Ice.
Correct
"concrete traffic grid lock hell holes" I have never been to California.
I believe you though
I tell you one thing it’s got up North. Lots and lots of irrigated farmland to drive through on your way to the scenery on the coast or in the mountains. But I love all America, once you get out of the cities.
The southern half of coastal California does generally have a wonderful year-round climate.
My point exactly. Boring, the same year round hot and dry, cloudless every day… forever. Absolutely not for me!
The climate is generally pretty nice along the southern half of coastal California…… There is that that CA can rightfully claim.
Did I mention all the bugs?
Florida is just one big, hot, humid swamp filled with alligators, snakes and bugs. Not fit for human habitation.
No, Beverra and Steyer are NOT leading the polls, Steve Hilton is, as per NBC on May 26, 2026:
https://www.nbcpalmsprings.com/2026/05/27/new-poll-shows-steve-hilton-leading-california-governors-race
Hard to tie your shoes when they are both planted firmly in the air!
Steve Hilton is ahead by a country mile despite the pollsters trying to again tip the scales in favor of the lying pos progressive scum.
Hilton must win
"Legitimate goals" sounds too loosey goosey for me. How about limiting it to defense of the country and our people?
Would you rather fight despots here or over there? China’s invasion into this country is only matched by Islam’s. How many 9/11’s could you tolerate to keep wars domestic?
Same here. I was in university 1968-1972. A lot of “artsy fartsy” types did the protest dance but many others especially engineering students like me did and would not. Some boomers are left wing nutters not all.
Boomer here, I remember those days and all the civil rights protests and Vietnam protests, too. We never should have been involved in Vietnam war IMHO.
Read the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, then read Article IV, Section 4....
Not all of we boomers lapped up this pile of marxist feces known as civil right and campus commies.
We thought then, as we do presently, they were a bunch of spoiled rich brats, filthy, smelly druggies well worth avoiding at all costs.
Over the decades, these people have grown older, much much richer, yet have learned nothing.
Don't tar all we boomers with that brush. Eighty five percent of us wanted nothing to do with these commie rat wrench-throwers.
They also ignored the Brown Acid warnings at Woodstock. Yes, it was their own trip, albeit into La La Land.
Hmmmm, just like Unions? Like the Mob?
Are these elements just the global Mob?
Take a look here: https://karlyn.substack.com/p/new-to-my-work-start-here
Primary source info, includes an intro course and a four-hour presentation, among other offerings.
I owe you a link from a week or more ago regarding gas prices:
https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=26624504643877700
Thank you for the referral.
She looks intriguing.

We shall see...
Not the mob JAZ. The mafia in the US used their money to influence politicians, but it never aspired to assume political power themselves.
Marlin, the Mob today is much bigger than the Mafia. It is globalistic.
globalistic?
Supercalifragilistic....
lol!
Kunstler: "And now summer is nearly here and (the old song goes) 'the time is right for dancing in the streets.' Or, rather, fighting in the streets."
I didn't think it was that easy to confuse Martha and the Vandellas with The Rolling Stones.
Regarding Antifa.
Before the 2020 election, Antifa dot com led directly to Joe Bidens website.
AfterBidens 2020 installation, Antifa dot com led to the Whitehouse website.
Antifa are the democrat parties footsoldiers.
Horizon D7
THANK YOU. I am sick to death of obstinately naive people calling Becerra, Biden, Fauci, et al., "failures" or "incompetent." They are malicious and carrying out evil agendas.
They are also all dedicated communists, which explains a lot.
Lincoln wanted to send freemen to Africa, to Liberia. We should send the Lefty-Lefts to China. Except China would want no part of their worthless hides.
The Liberian experiment failed, and most of the freed slaves died.
Was this a problem of execution or absolute laziness?
They just released a report saying that adult men labor participation rate has fallen from 73% to 66% since 2006.
Biggest cause? Lazy gimme attitudes, retirements, technology displacement, Leftist designs to make men more dependent.
A report about a month ago stated that the number of not working males was up to 9 million.
AI is really gone eff this up.
Lest we forget the other part of the insanity, Gavin Newsom just signed a bill making it a felony to seize voting ballots, even by law enforcement.
Wording used election interference all but telegraphing the fix is in yet again.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/may/28/california-law-shield-elections-federal-interference
Because protecting our Democracy don't Cha know!
"Protecting democracy." Translation: "Protecting Democrat party power."
Laws written by Marxists are irrelevant.
And meaningless against Federal supremacy.
One hopes.
You're right, yet even if they continue to deny gravity to the moment of their extinction, it must ultimately manifest. Maybe not this week or this year, but soon enough geologically. That's just flat-out true--the physics of foolishness.
As Heraclitus might have said, "Stupid shit cannot last."
As long as the Democrats feed them drugs, they are happy.
You're right, too, but that's a gravy train also highly vulnerable to stoppage.
Then it's John Lennon time: "Cold Turkey, it's go me, on the run..."
Nature bats last.
Ha, I just laughed at a poll yesterday showing the Dems in the lead. Issued by Berkeley and the LA Times.
Any bias?
And wrong per usual.
Hmmmm, Ben. Is the vote showing the real problem in California, State wide, Hilton is still in there swinging. Total incompetence by the Bass group and she still is number one. Kinda says where the gimme crowd is located. How did San Diego county do?
I fear you are unfortunately right. California seems to be locked into a death spiral brought about by their own elected representatives.
Or stuck financially.
American expat billionaire communist Neville Roy Singham funded the protests in MN. Plus many other protests. He has blood on his hands & is a traitor.
Until heads start to roll, literally, we're screwed.
They fall on me.
.
Most ppl are ignoring them out of either apathy or ignorance and that's clearly not working. You cannot ignore millions of uncivilized immigrant invaders into a civilized society.
I think he also has a hand in CA, too.
He sure does.
If we can read Substack and figure out Antifa’s MO, don’t you think the FBI knows who’s running the show? It would be pretty easy to arrest the leadership and RICO the funding sources. This means the FBI doesn’t want to shut Antifa down? Why?
They're compromised. They've been compromised for a long time, possibly from the start of the agency, but certainly by the 1960s.
Because much of the FBI is saturated with Lefty-Lefts.
PRECISELY, IT CANNOT BE ANYMORE OBVIOUS.
Ugh.
When I wrote The Long Emergency I did under-estimated how badly it would disorder peoples' minds.
That's ok, Jimbo...your readers still love you!
Evidently, the "hunger strikers" at the Delany facility were unhappy with the choices of jambalaya, chicken burgers, or bean burritos plus salads, breads, and desserts for their dinner.
Fakest outrage ever.
Make Exile Great Again
Arrest every single protestor. Deterrence only works when it is certain. No carve-outs exist in law, it is binary: THIS is illegal, no excuses.
Once they’re arrested, terminate their citizenship, confiscate their passport and drop them off in some other country. If they behave for five years and ask to come back, let them apply.
Easy peasy if you're actually seeking to remedy the situation.
I hope the cops at least got to eat the lasagna.
Party politics generally in America (factionalism) is a bipartisan affair, all of it having been “reduced to psychodrama.”
The Binary Thought Control Matrix
"They are a good demonstration of the deviancy of the Left side of our society right now."
John,
Funny, but that is EXACTLY how we of the thin blue line thought of hippies in the 60's....
Nothing changes.
Yes, with good football player cops stomping them into the ground. The greeks don't want no freaks. The good guys then go home and listen to twisted freaks like Mark Levin. Or worship long haired musicians and pay big money to listen to them.
How do you separate them Greeks from the boys?
With a crowbar!
A bunch of geeks biting the heads off of chickens and drinking human waste.
Federalist=Democrat+RINO=Deep State, DR=MAGA
Thus: "Instead, we get what we have."
Political partys formed up pretty quick tho. As soon as Washington passed away in 1799. A few years later emotions were running so hot two founding fathers -- Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton -- were shooting at each other in Weehauken, NJ.
The parties did form up quickly.
Jefferson wanted a revolution every 20 years or so. Another idea which never took hold.
That is the vote, but like everything, it has been compromised.
I blame the neo-Dems, father and son.
