I think you are spot on with diagnosing the events of the last decade or so as having something to do with evil. There are phenomena that can’t be explained as simply incompetence or greed, things like the mutilation of children along with trying to utterly destroy people who object.

I think you are spot on with diagnosing the events of the last decade or so as having something to do with evil. There are phenomena that can’t be explained as simply incompetence or greed, things like the mutilation of children along with trying to utterly destroy people who object.
Politicians have been the same since this country was founded. Some are power-hungry and stupid, some are psychopaths, etc. Most of them are the same families as those involved early in our country's history. For instance, if you read David McGowan's series on the Lincoln assassination, you will not believe how very much the same we are now: The media made up absolute lies, fed to them by higher-ups, there was God-awful and bad "official" stories, innocent people were hanged, etc. The only difference now is that we have the internet so we find out sooner. But people are still suckers and believe official stories.
Hell, you can go back through history - read some Marcus Aurelius, for example. Same thing.
So asking "how has it come to this?" doesn't have much relevance in the scheme of things. The only difference in treachery and bogus official stories, propaganda and lies is that now we have them blasted at us 24/7.
The funny part to me is that they still don't even bother to be all that clever constructing their psyops or official stories, but people still gobble it up anyway, even now with video that proves the opposite. Who could have foreseen that?
