My brother and I served in Germany in the 80s when the Wall was up. We operated under very serious rules and one of them was that nuclear capable aircraft had to remain visible and uncovered.

Ukraine - meaning the United States - just violated those rules.

This is very scary stuff as our Blob has gone rogue. We must support the Trump administration at all costs. Hell, support Putin(more importantly, the Russian and Ukrainian People).

"The following seems to me to be an appropriate unfolding response to the vicious attacks on United States territory.

It would seem appropriate, first, to demand that the Taliban government of the poor and wretched nation of Afghanistan produce the terrorist Osama Bin Ladin and his assistants and place them in the hands of NATO authorities within a very brisk time frame. Failure to comply ought to result in the complete destruction of Kabul and other Taliban-controlled towns.

Second, the people of Iraq should be warned to depart their capital city, Baghdad, which should then be completely destroyed.

The nation of Israel should begin immediately the deportation of Palestinians from the West Bank to the Kingdom of Jordan. The people of Gaza Strip should be transported to Egypt, and the Gaza incorporated into the state of Israel.

The government of Syria should be notified to begin evacuations of Damascus pending its destruction within a short time frame. Ditto Tripoli, capital of Lybia.

Americans must face the harsh fact that it is now necessary to put Jihad out of business.

The events of Sept 11th will only accelerate the problems Americans face vis-a-vis our inordinate use of oil, and our hyper oil-dependent living arrangements.

Prepare for war and austerity."

~ NIMBY? ~

Ok, Sox, here's the reply I 'promised'. It may be less of a one-to-one, but what the hell...

We have Ziomerica slowly turning the faraway Middle East-- Palestine, Iraq, Syria, Yemen... and whoever/whatever doesn't want to buy what Ziomerica is selling or give what they're wanting-- into a 'geography of nowhere' (it is said it was something like a 5-year plan) while the author of a book of the same title of course advocates that very thing-- you know, leveling of entire cities for one or a few bad-guys-- while asking me something about his own backyard that he's griped about as its own geography of nowhere.

'Can't make this stuff up.'

Let's say we are anthropologists of the future, ten-thousand years from now, managing to decode and read the contents of a storage unit from an apparent server-farm with these contents here. What do we want to say? What do we want to tell them? Like about what happened or what might? Or whatever else?

We have the living counterparts-- the decendents-- of any, maybe every, empire-civilization that has come and gone right here and now of course, some rationalizing away their empire's remote actions, presumably like they always have at every time and place.

Some of them on this storage unit's contents have these little four-leaf-clover sub-icons hanging under their main icons, suggesting, like a sixteen-year old comparing motorbikes, how 'Israel'-- whatever its religiopoliticeconomic raison d'etre excused for its existence-- has the bestest, biggest bombs to 'defend' itself against its surrounding neighbors. Rather neighborly of them, don't you think?

So what do I say to my counterpart reading this? How about...

'The backyards/geographies of others they destroyed were and/or became their own.' (... suburbal sprawls/clusterfucks, gutted flyover-country towns, lost communities, eyesores...)

Ya, life is tragic, Jim, as you've said.

Why Everything You Know About World War II Is Wrong

https://www.unz.com/runz/why-everything-you-know-about-world-war-ii-is-wrong/

____

I am not 100% sure this is the article I read some time back, but it most likely is (although it could also be this one: https://www.unz.com/runz/the-true-history-of-world-war-ii/)... or both... FWIW...

In any case, there's some echoed sentiment, as per this quote from the article:

"Numerous other leading scholars and journalists, both contemporaneous and more recent, have come to very similar conclusions, but they too often suffered severe retaliation for their honest historical assessments. For decades William Henry Chamberlin had been one of America’s most highly-regarded foreign policy journalists, but after he published America’s Second Crusade in 1950, he vanished from most mainstream publications. David Irving quite possibly ranks as the most internationally successful British historian of the last 100 years, with his seminal books on World War II receiving enormous critical praise and selling in the millions; but he was driven into personal bankruptcy and narrowly avoided spending the rest of his life in an Austrian prison."

The US is not entangled in the Ukraine to help the Europeans resolve their disputes. If it had wanted to help the Europeans, it wouldn't have blown up the Nordstream pipeline to cripple the German (and wider European) economy (it did less harm to Russia, which was always just going to sell its energy elsewhere). The US is entangled in a proxy war in Ukraine because it wants to break up the Russian Federation and appropriate its natural resources, just as it did in Iraq.

The UK, meantime, has been having a centuries-long hissy fit because, as a naval superpower, it couldn't just take over Russia, as it did so many other countries, with gunboats. And trying to do so by land, as Napoleon and Hitler found, doesn't tend to end well.

What sounded like a great idea to Neo-cons in the United States has revealed the US's manifold bankruptcies and revolted the rest of the World.

Imagine Mr. Zelensky’s predicament. Mighty America conned the former comedian to thinking that if he went along with their genius scheme to knock off Putin, his sad-sack country would be transformed into something like Ukro-Disneyworld

He would be lionized and made rich beyond his wildest imaginings.

The poor schlemiel fell for it. He let NATO (that is, the USA) set-up, equip, and train the largest army in Europe, including battalions of bad-ass, hard-core Ukro-Nazis who had previously been so useful in the American-sponsored 2014 Maidan “Colour Uprising.”

His country received billions of US dollars without audit oversight, just screaming to be creamed off by Ukraine’s corrupt leadership.

After 3+ years of America’s genius scheme to maintain world dominance it has all gone to custard. 600,000+ men have been killed. America is broke. US$36-trillion in debt. The West is depleted of ammunition.

And US and European taxpayers are baulking at seeing any more of their tax dollars going to the corrupt Ukrainians.

And Zelensky is hiding, flitting from one country to another begging for money. Because the game is drawing to a close and he may find himself fatally unpopular back on the home front. He has managed to send hundreds of thousands of young Ukrainian men to their deaths in the meat-grinder. And millions more have hightailed it for other countries.

Ukraine will now be a land of mostly women, children, and old folks. With just enough surviving soldiers left looking to hunt down the comedian who turned Ukraine into another one of history’s sick jokes.

~ Bombing Others' Geographies To Nothing Or Making Something Out of Our Own Local Geographies ~

What Jim doesn't seem to grok, or maybe he does, is...

1. ...that the American polity's specific interests overseas, like in Israel in particular, means that the polity is less interested in or focused on its own home-geography, which in effect makes it more of a geography of nowhere...

2. ...that he writes about the large-scale centrailized State, yet ostensibly does it from his local, small-scale home-town of Greenwich, NY.

We hear little of it, though, except where it is used as leverage for personal commodification and/or virtue-signaling, such as through his paintings, bi-weekly Substacks or eyesores-of-the-month.

IOW, Jim seems to want to eat his cake and have it too, wants it both ways, while talking out of both sides of his mouth.

Does he want USA out of Ukraine? Then he wants it out of Israel, etc., too.

Does he want relocalization, good towns, good architecture and real community? Then he wants to truly focus on that, on the home-front, under his nose, not thousands of miles away.

As for our ex-military commenter, Ben, ditto, insofar as if he wants Israel and the Middle East to go his way:

Then he should wrap up his local USA citizenship/location and 'geographies of elsewhere' USAid-esque funding and 'flock-off like the birds' and go see if he can, by himself, live/fight/bomb/fund their geographies to nowhere (i.e., Gaza) and leave the rest of we locals-- tax-hostage funders of *their* wars, not ours-- alone.

That way, too, there is less of an incentive for angry Middle Easterners/Jihadists to go the other way and threaten America's security/geography. Or Europe's.

Hey, Ben, lose the chick appeal, be a cock-of-the-walk with your flock, take your 'chickenhawk necks' and walk the talk in your geographies of elsewhere.

That way, the rest of us can focus on ours, take back that bottomless funding and use it, and more, to make a go for the betterment of our own geographies here at home. Make them something and somewhere.

Maybe there's a bit more truth to Jim's published 'hate-mail' than meets the eye.

~ 'Horrified Bystander'?: Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love The Israel ~

"Were a conventional catastrophic escalation to occur, the Israeli military is capable of defeating the armies of its immediate neighbors: Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan (though I do not believe their governments want to engage Israel in a big hot war). Who knows what Iraq might do. Or Iran. Who knows what kind of biological or nuclear devices militant Islam is capable of setting off in Israel in the days ahead. It may not be necessary for the other Muslim governments to engage their official militaries against Israel. The masses themselves might just conveniently bypass their governments, travel to Israel by any means necessary, jihad-style, by Toyota or on foot or by camel, armed with the stock-in-trade of asymmetrical warfare, small arms, kalashnikov automatic rifles, shoulder-launched rockets and grenades, and join the Palestinians in what would turn out to be a horrendous urban insurrection.

I am not convinced that the US can accomplish anything besides acting as a horrified bystander.

Even in a conventional war scenario -- governments against governments using soldiers and advanced weaponry -- it is hard to imagine any role that the US might play. We are a powerful nation, but we're not omnipotent."

And why? Returning a favor. During the War of 1812, the British had erected a naval blockade of Russia, in order to seize Russia's precious cargoes: hemp, the Oil of the seafaring age.

Cotton ropes and sails rot quickly in seawater; hemp rope and sail is impervious to saltwater. Without hemp, the deep bluewater navies could not have sailed, and global trade would have ground to a standstill.

The Islamic Age had ended as Columbus' use of a Zheng Ho map to find the New World and Vasco de Gama's charting a course around the Horn of Africa had opened up routes and products beyond the Silk Roads; as the Silk Road revenues had slipped, and slipped, Islam's great Universities could no longer be funded, and even slavery was not profitable enough to sustain the caravan civilization.

Meanwhile, Europe was duking it out in the science wars of the naval Spice Wars (aka the Pirate Age), advancing faster and faster in both new riches and technologies such as longitude tables, the telescope, the sextant, and the rudder.

Forwarding to 1812, Russia produced up to 90% of industrial hemp. America itself had grown rich on tobacco, hemp and marijuana, and charred potash (burnt oak) used for fertilizer. The British blockade had been seizing Russian cargoes of precious, necessary hemp.

American Yankees invented the clipper ship, the speedboat of its time, in order to slip past that quarantine and the British Navy. Grateful for American help, Russia returned the favor in the Civil War, as the British hoped to gain Southern cotton without the Northern Morill tariffs- and, possibly, get some of their colonial land back one day.

“World War III flutters over the continent like an answered prayer coming in for a landing.”

The average person does not want war. A nice life filled with supportive people... a couple kids to leave your property to... meaningful work... a roof over our heads... food in the belly... and a little fun on the weekend is all most ask for. Nothing wrong with that.

Nothing wrong that is – except for the Ruling Class that seems to have a perpetual death wish for the Planet. Not for themselves of course because they are basically sore-afraid cowards who hide behind heavy office doors and thuggish security people so their mostly wasted lives are kept safe and secure. No, it is death for a great deal of humanity that they seek.

And why? Because they hate what they are – human beings. They are a human-species-hating deformity in the human family. They do not even see themselves as human but more like faux gods that rule over the collection of The Worthless as just so much garbage.

They hate everything human so much that they are committed to either cleansing the Planet of humanity – or fully merging us with machinery so that we become better and more compliant slaves for Them. How nice for them.

They seem to have no souls. And so, They do not want the rest of us to have any, either.

We did not sign up to live out our lives among such Madman and Madwomen but here we are. We stubbornly refuse to accept the hellscape that They have planned for us and we go about our lives anyway... finding as many supportive people as we cam... having kids if we so choose... engaging in meaningful work (or deciding to waste our lives with eyes forever glued to the screen of the Little Magic Box of Dancing Pixels)... finding food for our belly... and as much fun as we can squeeze out of life in between the madness and hellscape that we find ourselves in.

No one promised us a Rose Garden. But it could be said that neither did they promise us lives filled with nothing but Thorns and Pests constantly eating away at us.

Where there’s Life there’s Hope, so they say. Let’s hope so... because living without Hope doesn’t seem to bring happiness... or food for our bellies.

Excellent post RS. You said, "They do not even see themselves as human but more like faux gods that rule over the collection of The Worthless as just so much garbage."

Why do they see themselves this way? Because of we the people. The people have a bad habit and that bad habit is to put people of great wealth and prominence on a pedestal and then worship them, assuming that because they made a great deal of wealth, that they know everything there is to know about....well........everything.

Take Bill Gates for example. The man made his wealth creating computer software operating systems. He's a computer geek. That's all. Yet, he is involved in and treated as an expert in human vaccinations, human food production, population control. Why? What official training has he earned in these areas to qualify as an expert in these matters? No, he's wealthy, extremely wealthy and as such he is treated and viewed as a god by we the little people. He knows all. He sees all.

We do it with all wealthy people. We do this with all celebrities. We do this with all prominent people. As people continue to reject religion and the concept of God they must replace that desire to worship with something else. Some worship the Earth. Some worship cars. Some worship money. Most people, it seems worship the elite.

When in reality these prominent wealthy elites eat, drink, sleep and shit the same way everyone else does. They may shit in a golden toilet and they may eat their food with golden forks but they are no different.

Now I will tell you the answer to my question. It is this.

The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from the oligarchies of the past in that we know what we are doing.

All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just around the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal.

We are not like that.

We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end.

What's going on in Communist China is not "unrestrained communism and capitalism"--it's not capitalism at all. What is really going on--both in Communist China and in the American "left"--is the ugly marriage of Communist/Socialism and Fascist/Socialism. Hitler figured out that his dream of pure "Nationalist" (Fascist) Socialism could not succeed without some of the short-term benefits of private enterprise, so he embraced Socialist corporatism, where private corporatists would be allowed to exist and even prosper--BUT only so long as they pledged their total allegiance to the Socialist regime. Part of the benefits that those corporatists gained in the deal was elimination of true free market capitalist competition, access to near or de facto slave labor, favorable government regulatory treatment, and lucrative government contracts. What Hitler did not tell the corporatists (but that he later admitted) was that he viewed the corporatists existence only as temporary and that eventually (as in when the Reich won the war) they would find their property expropriated and the corporatists themselves likely "eliminated." This whole toxic Socialist/Fascist/Communist model is now the basic ChiComm model, and--frighteningly--is the basic socio-economic-political model now embraced by the modern American Democrat Party. Had the Democrats won the 2024 election, we would be living under a Socialist/Fascist/Communist de facto dictatorship in the U.S. within likely 4 years. That is still the Democrat plan, and it is behind every single thing that they continue to try to do to wreck the U.S. as a functioning Constitutional Republic operating under a free-marker capitalist system.

As if the paper militaries of the EU could actually do anything without the US, and Trump won't cooperate with that deluded fantsy. Putin will show restraint becouse Russian forces will occupy the Ukrainian territory he wants plus a 10-12 mile buffer zone by the end of the Russian summer offence.

Lindbergh's wife wanted to be popular and was against this. She was unworthy of this great man.
