The republic is certainly not operating as advertised. Some try to explain it away by organic end-of-Empire decay and corruption, and the endless vapor lock of sensible actions between the parties. But it appears to me that the theater indicates how completely beholden our government officials are to entities other than the (majority of) U.S. population of citizens, and this includes total insulation from penalties of law. The evidence is overwhelming of illegal activities, but other than (maybe) a few token low-level operatives, none of the Puppet Masters will ever serve jail time.
At this point, a convention of states or Constitutional Convention seems to be about the only non-violent path forward. I would add that perhaps a random drawing of citizen voters to fill the elected offices for a single term, including a net worth analysis to root out the potential puppets, might - just maybe - avoid the suffering we endure today.
It can't get much worse as economic catastrophe looms.

The DNC decided that they were losing the edge with the US people about 20 years ago. The people were getting ahead under Reagan and Clinton and started to want to protect their new found capital from the invasions of the IRS.
The new plan? They already had control of education and the universities but more needed to be done. They threw all the immigration control of Clinton and early Obama and progressively started pushing for an open border, to first allow in millions of socialistic people and then work on the system to get them enfranchised. Very nice adumbration of the filibuster….but how was this ever allowed in the first place? A bill can become law with a majority vote of the senate per our constitution. How can a minority of the senate stop the majority from even voting on it?
Yes, you are right, but, the Constitution also permits the House and Senate to set their own operational procedures. Therefore, the filibuster is Constitutional, in a round about way. Personally, I think the filibuster is a good thing. It slows down the process and is intended to invoke more debate on a bill. But like all things that politicians and humans are involved in, it has become corrupted until it is nothing more than a tool for obstruction.
I agree with our host, if the filibuster is to be used then the Senator or Senators who invoke the filibuster must stand there at that floor podium and continue to talk. That means they don't get snack breaks, no potty breaks, no sleep breaks. Let them stand there and soil themselves and then continue to ramble on while feeling the load in their pants and the offensive smell of their own fecal matter.
My understanding of the Senate is in essence it's a debate society. This feature functions to slow everything down. Slowing whatever legislation is making its way through the process should help prevent spur of the moment enactments largely based on the emotions of the moment.
With media able to control narratives to their liking more than ever (at least this is the appearance) in the history of the country, having a mechanism to slow down the process should be a good idea.

I had to give a statement about his behavior as they arrested him, and had not four or five passengers come forward to say he was out of control and touching people I am not sure what would have happened.

The US Congress is a gigantic colossal failure and has abrogated its Constitutionally mandated responsibility. They really don't do anything other than bicker with each other and hold useless committee meetings.

The damned 17th amendment stole the people's control of their Senators. I believe most of the people in the Senate today would never have been appointed by their state legislatures before the 17th required direct election, opening the process to tons of outside money and interests. The voter had only his state legislator between him and the Senator. Now they are a world away representing big donors, domestic and foreign without a whiff of concern about your county which at one time was their major concern. Even worse, they all think THEY should be President.
A repeal of the 17th Amendment would drastically change the makeup of the Senate.

Very nice adumbration of the filibuster….but how was this ever allowed in the first place? A bill can become law with a majority vote of the senate per our constitution. How can a minority of the senate stop the majority from even voting on it?
Yes, you are right, but, the Constitution also permits the House and Senate to set their own operational procedures. Therefore, the filibuster is Constitutional, in a round about way. Personally, I think the filibuster is a good thing. It slows down the process and is intended to invoke more debate on a bill. But like all things that politicians and humans are involved in, it has become corrupted until it is nothing more than a tool for obstruction.
I agree with our host, if the filibuster is to be used then the Senator or Senators who invoke the filibuster must stand there at that floor podium and continue to talk. That means they don't get snack breaks, no potty breaks, no sleep breaks. Let them stand there and soil themselves and then continue to ramble on while feeling the load in their pants and the offensive smell of their own fecal matter.
My understanding of the Senate is in essence it's a debate society. This feature functions to slow everything down. Slowing whatever legislation is making its way through the process should help prevent spur of the moment enactments largely based on the emotions of the moment.
With media able to control narratives to their liking more than ever (at least this is the appearance) in the history of the country, having a mechanism to slow down the process should be a good idea.

The effect of this is that TSA wait times double, triple, or more. This effect is more pronounced in larger, urban markets, not so much in rural markets where the labor force is more committed, and will not lie about being sick.
The same scenario occurred with ATC during the last shutdown.
I worked with a young man that was a TSA agent for a year or two before he decided it was not what he wanted to do with his life.

TSA famously misses weapons all the time when they are audited. The odds are they aren’t going to find that six-inch knife. As far as “too drunk” goes, that seems to be up to the airline staff at boarding.

Had that happen with one guy who was sitting next to my wife.
He was hitting on any female near him including my wife and messing with some wrestling coach's bald head.
He was served two drinks and did not have the money to actually pay for it.
By the end of the flight from Norfolk to Baltimore, he was unhappily sitting next to me and started trying to touch me which caused him to be repeatedly accidently elbowed to the face as I was stretching hard enough to hurt but not hard enough to cause damage.
He kept messing with the wrestling coach in front of him and it was all I could do to keep this from escalating.
I resorted to telling him to keep his hands to himself loudly and then pushing his hands back down.
No other passenger did anything including the really yoked wrestling coach except pull out their damn cell phones and film the nonsense.
I had to give a statement about his behavior as they arrested him, and had not four or five passengers come forward to say he was out of control and touching people I am not sure what would have happened.
We were given a free pair of tickets for our trouble.
Thankfully I was able to maintain enough control it did not become a TikTok viral like so many of these plane fiascos.
I’m suggesting that the TSA has virtually no “wins” after 25 years, and we might not miss it at all.
