Be advised, if this book is a comedy, the excerpt failed to make me laugh. However I may have spotted a missing word: “Can I just watch for [a] while?”
I never buy books (heavy library user), but I'd buy yours if I knew the money wouldn't go to Israel. As it is, I'll have to encourage the library to buy it.
Would like to see you at Battenkill Books on Nov. 13th, it's only 50 or so miles, the book sounds great. Unfortunately the weather does not. Don't like traveling at night over the spine of the Greens on a dark and stormy night.
I remember NYC in the late 60's. Went to school near Philly and used to hitchhike up to a friend's apartment in the City. We would go out pub crawling. One time we met up with a couple of Aussie sailors on shore leave looking for a good time. Man, those guys knew how to find them.
Having read one of the first copies, I heartily recommend Look, I'm Gone. I was 13 when President Kennedy was killed. The collective shock at the time was all-consuming. Experiencing it as the backstory of Kunstler's bighearted main character brings it all back to light in a tale that's hilarious, sad, sweet, adventurous and irreverent. The prose and pacing are masterful. Read it. You'll love it!
Just downloaded the Kindle version. Side note: in the early 1960s I attended the Hill School in Pottstown Pennsylvania, just up 421 from Valley Forge Military Academy, which JD Salinger graduated from, and was the model for Pennsy prep. I was writing a paper for my fourth form English class on Salinger, and decided to call him from a pay phone at the school. He actually answered and I said hi I'm calling from the Hill School where I am writing a paper on you. Amazingly, given his famously private persona, he did not hang up on me instantly. Instead we chatted about the paper for 5 minutes or so. Then he asked me how I like the hill and I said apparently better than you liked Valley Forge. He laughed, and then gave me a bit of advice I have never forgotten. Quote: never confuse the views of the characters with the views of the author.
What a great teaser! Will be buying a copy!
Ordered two copies! The other for my father in law, who was 16 and attending a NH prep school when JFK was shot. Truth!

Mr. K,

Will hopefully see you next time in the Spring.
Best,

Love the vivid portrayal of mid-60s New York. Like a scene out of Rosemary's Baby.
Interesting.

“Sure, a million times. My father’s an attorney? They have corned beef and turkey à la king. Come on, I’ll take you.”
Why the question mark?
There are typos in this because I copied directly from the manuscript rather than the final page proofs.
Gotcha. You so rarely have a publishing error that I assumed that it was correct and that it was I not grokking your meaning.
It truly is great writing - as per usual.
Thank you.
That seems to be a very interesting, well-written novel. No surprise there.
Ok I’m hooked
"a mature midget" Excellent!
Will it be available in a Kindle edition? My old eyes need to be able to crank up the font size.
Yes, there will be a digital edition very shortly. And an audio book.

Read by whom?
I'm ordering your book--enjoyed the excerpt! (I should reread Catcher, too!)
My copy arrived in an Amazon truck yesterday. I've enjoyed several of Kunstler's books over the years.
Yes I do. And I will!
