Unfortunately, the USA has Stage 4 cancer: the evil and corruption and destruction has gone too far. No cure available. It has already sealed its fate. You are living in history... the fall of the USA empire (the UK was the last, and there were hundreds before that). The flaw is in the individual: the human mind, the human spirit. When the day comes that man actually understands himself, the atrocities and failings of humanity will finally be able to be prevented.

Every empire falls but the people always remain. There are still Romans in Rome. Still Turks in Turkey. Still Egyptians in Egypt. Still Spaniards in Spain. Still Brits in Britain. The only empire I know that was wiped out and gone was the Carthaginians of Carthage at the hands of the Romans.

My point? Empires are governments. The people will persist in one form or another.

Yup, they conquered the folks in front of them and made them into slaves, hence Slavs. So is the Ukraine war just the continuation of the battles fought hundreds of years ago? Viking Russ versus Ukrainian Slavs.

Think about Europe. The tribes of Europe, Franks, Germans, Celts, Latins, Spanish, etc, were all formed from different tribal groups, having separate language, and customs. The EU is another attempt to combine different groups into larger organizations. Will it succeed? So far, not so much, IMHO.

As goes the cell, so goes the organism. The weaknesses of democracy are manifested in our current predicament. The Fathers knew the entire premise of a republic rested on maintaining a devout Christian majority. When international human importation grew, that majority shrunk. Candidates now specifically run opposed to biblical standards in the name of Rights. And since reps are chosen democratically, the days of biblical council and enlightenment cannot be maintained.

We are in rescue mode, filling the proverbial lifeboats with the remaining devout. Trump was brought in as an inspector’s flashlight, not necessarily as a score settler… I hope he does both.

As Aelwed Bell said above the rot and decay are too deeply ingrained in our society from the Federal level down to the local school districts. Corruption is rampant because the American people themselves are corrupt. The American people are a bright reflection of the American government. Americans live well beyond their means and are buried by debt. Americans don't keep their words. Americans are self absorbed and egotistical. Americans are slothful and stupid. Americans no longer have morals. Americans are addicted to drugs and pornography.

Don't delude yourself into believing that the majority of the American people are as you described. Many are, but the majority?

Look at it this way. A righteous people would not tolerate an evil government. Plain and simple. The American people, by and large, tolerate the government they have because they, by and large, are just like the government.

Expand full comment
Gwennie's avatar

Cankerpuss, I wish I could give you a big hug. Because only a principled person believes that a righteous people would not tolerate an evil government. Most people are not rightoeus in that sense, with a long robe, impeccable standards and poised ready to smite. Most Americans are ethical, hard-working, family and community-minded but like all people all over the world, busy trying to cook dinner, take the cat to the vet, finish that report the boss needs, driving around town at 10 pm trying to find posterboard because their child just remembered the project due tomorrow. Living regular life. Before we beat our plowshares into swords, regular people want to exhaust all other posibilities first...

One of the founding fathers, in a quote I can't find or Grok has hidden, said that rather than being rebellious hotheads, most people tolerate even a very bad government because they are loathe to change systems, when change is likely to lead to pain and bloodshed. (Especially their own pain and bloodshed!)

I do believe that people will rise up when it is clear to them that their government has crossed the line into frank and intentional evil. That is what the vote for Trump was all about, and that was even before we all found out, via DOGE, just how much we had been betrayed. Now we'll see if this administration delivers. Keep your plowshares handy.

A good friend of mine was in construction. Had a big multi-billion dollar job in Chicago. He had a meeting with the City officials about payment process and so forth. One man (my friend believe it to be the treasurer) came into the meeting, sat down and said to all in the meeting without any shame, "all I am getting out of this project is a new roof and a new driveway on my home." That was all he said. Nothing more. My friend didn't take him seriously. A few months later as the construction project progressed his company found themselves $40 million in the hole, not having been paid by the City for the work done to that point. He approached the City's project manager and asked where the money was and was told to go to a certain man's house and put new roof on the house and pour a new driveway. So, he took his crews to that man's house, put a new roof on his house and poured him a new driveway. The very next day his company had been paid the $40 million. True story. From the mouth of he who poured the concrete for the dude's driveway.

That, Ben, is why our Country is doomed. Corruption is rampant at every level of government from the School Board to the US Congress. The American people let it happen because the people themselves are corrupt, seeking only to get gain for themselves and take advantage of their brothers to get gain. We live in a sick society, obsessed with the acquisition of stuff that brings no happiness. Hence the reason everyone is hopped up on anti-depressants and other drugs.

But still there must be those above the Game and who Watch. Do you mean like Trump brokering and providing Larry Ellison & Peter Thiel with a half a TRILLION (bankrupt) US$? Larry Ellison & Peter Thiel are building our Super-AI (the biblical Beast System) to, among other things, custom manufacture, within 48 hours, an mRNA jab to "cure" you of cancer(s) that you don't even have? [I shit you not.]

That sort of focus?

Do not be deceived. The Dems (with their CGI and actors in silicon masks) "getting justice" is their latest distraction while Trump fries bigger fish behind the scenes. For example, I can't get a single Lil Trumpster to give me a half-plausible reason why the Big Beautiful Bill [bbb=666] needed to include barring any and every state in the union from impeding, in any way whatsoever for the next ten years, Big Tech's AI. [Of course Ben will "counter" deploying his tiresome m.o. of completely ignoring my point and strawman/ad hom me 'til the cows come home. That's a given.]

-----

It's all theatre. They are marching us into eternal slavery, slavery of God's children. Trump could not stop this in real life even if that's what he was really trying to do. It's Saturday TV 'Rasslin' before Vince McMahon. This is Stu Hart's 1970s Calgary Stampede Wrestling on Saturday TV - with Mr. Hito and Ed Whalen. The white hats and the bad guys all drink beer and laugh when the cameras stop and the rubes have all gone home.

TPTB are WAY more in control than you think.

I hate to be that sobbing woman, but there’s a bigger picture to consider. Do you think any president really wins an election without a pass by the managerial class that really runs things no matter who is president? Didn’t JFK warn us about this? Eisenhower?

Have you seen the redevelopment plans for the Gaza strip—a multi-billion dollar makeover run by Jared Kushner with a new bougie city by the sea?

Are you aware of Black Rocks’s 38 trillion dollar plan to buy or run airports and other infrastructure around the world—including bringing ports around the Panama Canal under American control with Trump’s blessing? Are you aware CBDC is full steam ahead—even in Russia? Do you not feel the tightening grip of technology? We are already imprisoned in this new world. It’s already happened. I wouldn't tell you a lie like that since none of those people matter one bit.

Nobody in power gives a shit about them.

They have nothing, they build nothing, and they produce nothing except hate and endless babies dependent on welfare a Socialist dream people.

They have become adept in propaganda and lobbyist groups but can't get out of their own way when it comes to doing anything that actually improves their lot in life.

They need to be herded off to somewhere they can't produce another round of terrorist running their collective and then deprogrammed.

Once done re-introduced to normal Arabs around them.

Until that happens NO ONE in the region wants anything to do with them.

Blaming an entire population for their misery ignores the reality on the ground. Ordinary Gazans don’t control the checkpoints, the imports, the exports, the airspace, or even the coastline—they’ve lived under blockade for nearly two decades. Whatever money Hamas misused doesn’t erase the fact that 2 million civilians are trapped in a strip of land where unemployment, poverty, and bombed-out infrastructure leave them with no future.

And history shows that every time Palestinians have sought statehood—whether in Oslo or later initiatives—the deal on the table was riddled with restrictions: fragmented territory, no control of borders, no real sovereignty. That isn’t a “country of their own,” it’s an occupied dependency.

If you want peace, you don’t get it by starving, flattening, and demonizing an entire people. You get it by protecting civilians, giving them genuine self-determination, and refusing to excuse collective punishment. The fact that extremists exploit suffering is exactly why the suffering should end—not why it should continue.

You have lost your humanity.

You are feeding right into the Iranian plot. How do you keep a people unhappy enough to want to continuously fight wars for 70 years? Keep them poor and unemployed, take away their hope for the future, never ever let them develop their countries into anything except ghettoes, keep Israel as the enemy that has caused all their problems instead of looking in the mirror.

You criticize the desire of Israel to create a habitable zone in Gaza instead of a war zone? You just advocate the perpetuity of the MIddle East wars for no reason. No reason because the elimination of Israel is an Islamic wet dream.

Expand full comment
Margot Russell's avatar

Defending Gaza’s civilians isn’t “helping Iran.” It’s called international law. A 17‑year blockade and a war that’s flattened most of Gaza have crushed jobs, aid access, and basic infrastructure—punishing 2 million people doesn’t defeat Hamas, it breeds it.

Expand full comment
JohnAZ's avatar

Who started the war, who aggravates the fighting continuously, who spends Gaza capital buying and hiding rockets? I laugh at people talking about the two state solution. The original set up of Palestine in1948, by the UN WAs a 2 state solution, the country was divided. The Arabs, instead of building up their portion, decided to fight the Jews. They have made that choice every time since 1948. The Jews have made a relative paradise in Israel, in spite of the Arabs. The results? Israel is a well developed country, and the Palestine of 1948 is a pit. Who is right?

Ben Gurion admitted that every Israeli town was once Arab. It was built up and a food exporter. By all accounts, the Arab farmer was/is hard working and skillful.

The conflict didn’t start because “Islam = murder.” In 1947 the UN proposed two states—Jews said yes, Arab leaders said no, war followed, and hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were displaced. Israel built a state; Palestinians ended up under occupation and blockade. Hamas fires rockets and digs tunnels, Israel expands settlements—both choices fuel the cycle.

So “who is right?” Terror and collective punishment are both wrong. The only way forward is equal rights and security for both peoples—not demonizing 1.9 billion Muslims.

Expand full comment
JohnAZ's avatar

It really makes no difference what has happened in the past, Israel will never be displaced. Again, I will say, the Arabs would have been much better off just working on their own lands, improving them. Today, they find themselves with no real allies, except Iran, the proverbial troublemaker. It will be interesting to see the results of the Abraham Accords, where the Arab, not Persian, world finally gets its head screwed on right and trade explodes in the desert. Saudi Arabia, right now, is using irrigation technology, some developed in Israel, to Farm the deserts of the peninsula.

Who is right? Neither side!!! But reality pervades, the Arabs will continue to be pummeled until they figure out they better concentrate on themselves.

Just a thought. The Arabs were always nomads throughout history, very tribal. Do they even want a homeland or even understand what that means. We have a similar situation that occurred here in America and Canada, heck Mexico too, where indigenous nomadic and tribal people were “assimilated” into peoples who put value on wealth and property. It was a very painful experience for both sides. They nomads either became absorbed into the mainstream or just bummed out on the reservations. Sound familiar?

You are right, because our system of jurisprudence is based on politics. The Constitution gives very little power to the judiciary. Even judicial review is not in there. The founders wanted a neutral judiciary, Lady Justice with level scales.

What we have today is a totally biased judiciary that has been created by 70 years of Deep State control of D.C. Yes, liberal, leftist, but more so, bond to the Deep State having supreme control.

How to fix it? Remove the power of petty federal judges to push their opinions nation-wide. They should only deal with their own districts and leave legitimate national issues to SCOTUS.

As politics rule the machination of the country any more, the judiciary should not and cannot be political and maintain any form of balance in the governance of the country.
